Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2025-26 School Year, Timbers!

As we prepare to kick off another school year, I’m filled with excitement and pride to continue this journey alongside our amazing students, staff, and families.  My name is Lindsey Fullenwider, and I’m honored to begin my second year as principal of River Mill Elementary.  I remain deeply committed to helping every child grow and succeed!

Last year was filled with incredible academic gains, and we’re eager to build on that momentum. Our team is focused and energized to continue strengthening instruction, deepening student learning, and supporting the whole child.  At River Mill, we believe that every student can achieve great things when they’re surrounded by high expectations, strong relationships, and a nurturing learning environment.

Family partnership continues to be a vital part of our success.  You’ll receive regular updates from both myself and your child’s teacher to keep you informed about learning, events, and opportunities to get involved.  Your voice matters, and we value your feedback, questions, and ideas as we work together to create a vibrant and inclusive school community.

River Mill Elementary is truly a special place—full of dedicated educators and curious, capable students.  We are ready and excited to make this school year our best one yet!

Important Upcoming Dates:

Student placements are made with great care to ensure every child is set up for success.  Our goal is to ensure your child is in an environment where they can feel comfortable and excel.  We are confident that your student will thrive with their new teacher!  On Monday, August 4th, you will be able to view your child’s teacher in PowerSchool.  Our Kindergarten students will find out who their teacher will be after Kindergarten Soft Start.  If you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten and has not yet been registered, please do that on our website.

We invite families of 1st through 5th graders to join us for our Open House on Thursday, August 21st from 5:30–7:00 pm. Our Kindergarten Open House will take place on Thursday, September 4th from 5:30–7:00 pm.

All key dates, school-wide events, and helpful information will be shared regularly—and you’ll receive a school calendar at Open House to help keep you up to date.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer—we can’t wait to welcome you back on the first day of school!

School Supplies

This year, we’re simplifying school supplies for families!  Instead of shopping for individual items, we’re asking each family to contribute $25 per student.  This allows us to purchase supplies in bulk, saving our families time and reducing the overall cost.

To start the year, please ensure your child has the following items:

• Backpack
   
• Water bottle
   
• Headphones
   
• Shoes that are appropriate for PE days
   
• $25 for school supplies

 

Staffing Updates

We’re excited to share some staffing updates for the upcoming school year, including a few new faces and some familiar ones in new roles!

Jedidah Jackson will be transitioning out of the classroom to serve as one of our English Language Learner Specialists. In this role, she’ll support students across grade levels in strengthening their language acquisition skills.

Rachael Buckingham is returning to the Kindergarten classroom after serving as our ELL Specialist last year—she just couldn’t stay away from her love for early learners!

Skyler Larsen will be moving from second grade to first grade this year, and we know she’ll bring her energy and expertise to her new role with great success.

We’re also thrilled to welcome two talented educators to our 4th-grade team:

• Kelby Richardson, who has spent the past few years teaching 4th grade in the Hermiston School District, and
   
• Kasey Breuier, who has taught 4th grade at Clackamas River for the past two years.

Both bring a wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and a student-centered approach that will be a wonderful addition to our community.

Lastly, Emily Brown will be joining our Kindergarten team! Emily comes to us from Clackamas River, where she taught first grade last year. Her positivity, skill, and dedication will be a great asset to our early learning team.

Please join us in welcoming and celebrating these outstanding educators as we gear up for another great year at River Mill!

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2025-26, Timbers!

Al prepararnos para el inicio de otro año escolar, me llena de emoción y orgullo continuar este camino junto a nuestros increíbles estudiantes, personal y familias. Me llamo Lindsey Fullenwider y me siento honrada de comenzar mi segundo año como directora de la Escuela Primaria River Mill. ¡Mantengo mi firme compromiso de ayudar a cada niño a crecer y alcanzar el éxito!

El año pasado estuvo repleto de increíbles logros académicos, y estamos ansiosos por aprovechar ese impulso. Nuestro equipo está enfocado y con mucha energía para seguir fortaleciendo la instrucción, profundizando el aprendizaje estudiantil y apoyando al niño en su totalidad. En River Mill, creemos que cada estudiante puede lograr grandes cosas cuando está rodeado de altas expectativas, relaciones sólidas y un entorno de aprendizaje enriquecedor.

La colaboración familiar sigue siendo fundamental para nuestro éxito. Recibirá actualizaciones periódicas, tanto de mí como del maestro de su hijo, para mantenerlo informado sobre el aprendizaje, los eventos y las oportunidades de participación. Su opinión es importante y valoramos sus comentarios, preguntas e ideas mientras trabajamos juntos para crear una comunidad escolar vibrante e inclusiva.

La Escuela Primaria River Mill es un lugar verdaderamente especial, lleno de educadores dedicados y estudiantes curiosos y capaces. ¡Estamos listos y emocionados de que este año escolar sea el mejor hasta la fecha!

La colocación de los estudiantes se hace con gran cuidado para asegurar que cada niño esté preparado para el éxito. Invitamos a las familias de 1º a 5º grado a nuestra jornada de puertas abiertas el jueves 21 de agosto, de  5:30–7:00 pm. La jornada de puertas abiertas para kínder tendrá lugar el jueves 4 de septiembre, de 5:30–7:00 pm.

Se compartirán periódicamente todas las fechas clave, los eventos de toda la escuela y la información útil; además, recibirá un calendario escolar en la jornada de puertas abiertas para mantenerse actualizado.

Este año, ¡simplificamos la compra de útiles escolares para las familias! En lugar de comprar artículos individuales, pedimos a cada familia que contribuya con $25 por estudiante. Esto nos permite comprar útiles al por mayor, ahorrando tiempo y reduciendo el costo total.
